Protecting Your Driving Record:  A Plea From 4 Points to Zero

ticket-autoIt happens from time to time.  You are driving down the road and without even realizing it you are speeding.  If you continue  along you could be moving at an excessive speed.  If you are pulled over  the speeding ticket  you receive will result in a fine and anywhere between 2 and 5 points if you are convicted.  If you just plead guilty you will pay the fine and you will get the NJ MVC points on your driving record. Recently our firm represented a client in Camden City Municipal Court who was charged with 39:4-98 (Speeding 15-29 mph over limit).  Our client wanted to avoid points on his driving record.  A conviction of the charge would result in 4 MVC points in New Jersey.  After a review of the states’s case against our client and extensive negotiation with the municipal prosecutor, our office was able to p lead the defendant to a reduced charge that had no points.   Our client was able plead guilty to NJSA 39: 4-97.2, commonly referred to as Unsafe Operation, and received no points on his driving record.  You can review the NJ MVC point schedule by clicking here.
